My workflow does not run at all.

Check that it is published. A workflow only runs automatically once it has been explicitly published, which is what creates the trigger. An unpublished workflow can be edited freely but does nothing, and a published workflow with unsaved changes shows a draft indicator, meaning the version running is not the version you are looking at. Publishing also validates the workflow, and every condition node must have at least one branch defined before it can be saved or published.
